Nick Halloway (Chevy Chase) meets Alice Monroe (Daryl Hannah), a woman he could fall for. However, things get complicated when an experiment gone wrong alters the molecules in a portion of a building Nick has entered - and Nick ends up invisible. The government agent on the case, David Jenkins (Sam Neill), turns to the dark side when he realizes the implications of having an invisible man at his disposal; for his own purpose, or to sell to the highest bidder. On the run, Nick contacts Alice. She helps him plan an escape, but the agent and his cohorts are determined to find him and bring him in at any cost.
