That Night

In 1961 Long Island, 10-year-old Alice watches longingly across the street at her 17-year old neighbor Sheryl and wishes she could be her. Alice secretly spies on Sheryl, wears the same perfume, listens to the same records and watches the parade of teenage boys who vie for Sheryl’s attention.

Sheryl only has eyes for Rick, a local leather-clad bad boy from the bowling alley. When Sheryl’s doting father suddenly dies, her overprotective mother forbids her from seeing the rebel. Seeing this as a chance to help her idol, Alice suggests Sheryl babysit her, affording Sheryl the chance to sneak out and see Rick, while Alice acts as a cover.

This goes on for a while until Sheryl gets pregnant and is sent away to home for unwed mothers. With only Alice to help, Rick sets off to find Sheryl and reunite with her.

With a soundtrack chock full of hits from the early sixties, THAT NIGHT highlights stirring performances by Juliette Lewis and C. Thomas Howell, as well as both Eliza Dushku and Katherine Heigl in their screen debuts.
