The Fountain

Born from the sacrifices of man, the legendary Tree of Life promises eternity to those who drink its sap. It is the quest for this fabled tree… or more importantly, its gift, which has consumed Tom (Hugh Jackman) over the course of 1000 years. Told in a non-linear style, THE FOUNTAIN follows Tom’s soul through three separate incarnations, each of whom is desperate to save the life of his soul mate Izzi (Rachel Weisz) by harnessing the power of The Tree.

First, we are introduced to Tomas, a 16th Century conquistador captain in service to his queen Isabel. To save Spain from the Inquisition he is charged with finding the fabled tree, and must lead a cadre of fearful soldiers into the mysterious Mayan jungle.

In modern day, Dr. Tom Creo has been submersed in cutting edge research involving the effects of certain natural herbs on brain tumors. This is a subject he is passionate about as his wife Izzy has been diagnosed with one, and has only days to live. Of particular interest is the bark of an unknown tree, which seems to deliver remarkable results… at least in monkeys. With precious little time, Tom must push his research forward in defiance of his sympathetic (but pragmatic) superiors and peers, to unravel the mystery of The Tree and save his dying wife.

Light years away, Tommy transports the Tree through space in a mystical orb. Visited by memories of Izzi and flashes of his past lives, they are heading to a nebula, which, once they arrive, promises a rebirth of life and the world.

With stunning visual effects and powerful performances, THE FOUNTAIN bends time and space to create a unique and inspiring look at the cycle of life.
